According to official poverty statistics, about 1 in 5 children in Mecklenburg and about 1 in 4 children in Wake County are living in poverty. Thankfully, social safety net programs that focus specifically on helping children keep them from falling into poverty as adults
Toys for Tots of Mecklenburg and Wake Counties is a social safety net program that delivers new, unwrapped toys to local children in need. With the United States Marine Corps Reserve delivering a toy during the holidays, a message of hope is also delivered to these children: they are worthy of the magic and wonder of the holiday season.
