Helping A Mother of 2 to Keep Walking

Dana George is a mother of 2 girls ages 9 and 14 who is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that causes damage to the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Although there is no cure for MS, Dana is seeking funds to help her in receiving a hematopoietic stem cell transplant in order to stop the progression of the disease.
None of these expenses are covered by insurance and must be paid out of pocket. Dana is working with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization to help fundraise to cover these expenses. The cost of the procedure is $54,500. In addition, Dana will have other expenses related to the transplant. Some of these are travel, rehabilitation therapy following the transplant and will require expensive medications. Dana was diagnosed with MS at the age of 19 and has had continuous issues with using her right leg. She also experiences pain and numbness in her legs as well as issues with balance and speech. With the transplant, Dana hopes to be able to work again and not lose her ability to walk and move freely.
